Redecorate - our painting and decorating service

We now offer a full painting and decorating service: high quality, affordable, with community and environmental benefits built into its daily operations. Using Seagulls means you will get a competitive quote (including low cost paint), a friendly and prompt service and are asured that, by using us, you are supporting the opportunites we create (eg to provide a subsidised service for elderly people and training and learning opportunities for others).

The project aims to:
  • Provide a high quality, affordable and enviromentally sound painting and decorating service to Leeds residents.

  • Provide affordable and safe home maintenance and improvements to disadvantaged members of the community.

  • Provide training, skills and work experience to volunteers, young people and other members of the community to increase opportunities for employment.

  • Empower local tenants by giving them the skills and confidence to make their own home improvements.

Since the early days of Seagulls there has always been the ambition to extend services beyond the Community Re>Paint Scheme to provide a painting and decorating service with a difference. The new service utilizes paint recovered by Seagulls' Re>Paint Scheme and enables us to offer a service at subsidised rates to low-income groups in the community.

Naturally, we’re going to fly that extra mile. In addition to standard painting and decorating jobs, Redecorate will develop and implement community decorating skills workshops, whereby a range of decorating related skills are demonstrated to individuals, Community Groups, Resident Associations and any other communities of interest. Participants will be shown the basics and encouraged to try their hand at the ‘Redecorate House’ – courtesy of, and with many thanks to, Leeds Federated Housing Association. The project will also offer an ‘Assisted Decorating Scheme’ whereby individual tenants will be helped with decorations in their own home. This aspect of the venture aims to build the skills and confidence of individuals to make their own home improvements.

Redecorate will be delivered by qualified painters and decorators with the support of volunteers and students. A new relationship has been established with Leeds College of Building who have confirmed their enthusiasm for the project and arrangements are underway to provide painting and decorating students with work experience placements.

This is an exciting time of expansion for Seagulls. Redecorate will help us achieve sustainability and strengthen our mission to proactively help individuals, our community, and our environment (inside and out!)
