Where do we get our paint from?

All of the paint in Seagulls paint store has, in its previous life, been discarded and comes to us because it is unwanted.
 
• That doesn't mean the paint is bad, it just wasn't needed anymore by its previous owner.
• ALL of the paint in our store is reclaimed or some might say reused.
• We collect over 90 tonnes of reusable paint per year and about the same in un- usable paint that we have to dispose of.

Where to donate paint
 
We collect paint from Leeds City Council's Household Waste Sorting Sites (HWSS). On 9 of the HWSS we have large, metal, walk- in containers: Paint Banks, where householders can leave their unwanted paint for our collection service.

What paint can be reused and how can I tell? 
 
Any paint that has more than a couple of inches left in the pot and has NOT gone off can be reused. You will know if paint has gone bad because it will either be solid or smell like rotten eggs! Solid paint can be put in your general household bin and 'foul smelling' paint should be put in the paint bank ready for disposal.
 
We accept household emulsion, masonry paint, timber care, gloss, varnish, eggshell and undercoat.
 
Empty paint tins can be put in your household rubbish bin.

Environmental Benefits

If we did not provide a paint reuse service for householders in Leeds ALL of the paint we collect would be destined for disposal. What a waste of a precious resource that can be put to such good use!
